Basalt Wool

Basalt wool supplied by Global Optimals is a high‑performance thermal and acoustic insulation material produced from molten basalt. The wool is created by extruding basalt melt at approximately 1500 °C and rapidly quenching the strands in water, which yields a network of fine, amorphous fibers with high porosity. This micro‑fibrous structure gives the material its low thermal conductivity (0.033‑0.046 W/m·K) and enables it to retain insulating properties at temperatures up to 700 °C, making it suitable for high‑heat environments such as boiler rooms, furnaces, and steam pipelines. With densities ranging from 30 to 200 kg/m³, the product can be tailored for lightweight acoustic panels as well as thick thermal blankets in industrial buildings. Classified as NG (non‑combustible), the wool does not contribute to fire spread, and its moisture absorption of less than 1 % ensures stable performance even in humid conditions. In construction, basalt wool is commonly paired with vapor barriers, gypsum board, and plaster systems to create continuous insulation envelopes, while in industrial applications it is often combined with metal cladding, protective coatings, and additional fire‑resistant layers for equipment overheating protection. For acoustic applications, the fibers can be blended with polymeric micro‑spheres or visco‑elastic additives to enhance sound absorption in the 500‑4000 Hz range. Handling guidelines recommend storing the rolls in a dry, shaded area and avoiding prolonged exposure to aggressive chemicals such as strong acids or bases, which can degrade the fiber matrix. Delivery is made from the Tashkent warehouse to Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Russia within 2‑5 business days.

Storage and handling

Basalt wool must be stored in a dry, well‑ventilated area protected from direct sunlight and moisture. Recommended storage temperature ranges from +5 °C to +30 °C; higher temperatures may degrade its insulating performance. When the packaging remains intact, the typical shelf life is 12‑24 months. Handling requires protective gloves and safety glasses, avoidance of dust inhalation, and careful handling to prevent mechanical damage to the packaging, which could affect density and thermal conductivity.
