Titanium Dioxide BLR-996

Titanium Dioxide BLR-996 is a rutile titanium dioxide with a coating of zirconium and aluminum oxides. This pigment belongs to the class of coated rutile TiO₂ where the intrinsic rutile crystal lattice provides the highest refractive index among titanium oxides, delivering superior light scattering and opacity. The dual coating of zirconium and aluminum oxides forms a chemically inert barrier that suppresses photocatalytic activity, enhances resistance to ultraviolet radiation, and improves dispersibility in both organic and aqueous media. As a result, the product achieves a whiteness of at least 97.5 % and a hiding power of 1900 g/m², allowing formulators to obtain full coverage with thinner film builds. The oil absorption value of 16–22 g per 100 g indicates moderate affinity for organic binders, making BLR‑996 compatible with a wide range of resins such as acrylic, epoxy, and polyurethane, as well as with water‑based latex systems where the pH range of 6.5–8.0 ensures stability. Volatility not exceeding 0.5 % reduces dust generation and contributes to safer handling in production environments. In practice, the pigment is often combined with dispersing agents, anti‑settling additives, and corrosion inhibitors to create architectural paints that retain color and gloss under harsh weather, industrial coatings for metal structures, and protective finishes for exterior façades. In polymer applications, BLR‑996 is incorporated into polypropylene, polystyrene, PET and other engineering plastics to boost optical density, provide UV‑shielding, and fill micro‑voids, thereby enhancing mechanical strength and surface uniformity. When used in paper and cardboard manufacturing, the titanium dioxide raises brightness, improves print contrast, and can reduce the need for additional bleaching steps. In printing inks, especially water‑based formulations, it delivers excellent opacity, color stability and resistance to fading, particularly when paired with suitable polymer binders and rheology modifiers. Consequently, Titanium Dioxide BLR‑996 from Lomon Billions serves as a versatile, high‑performance pigment that meets the demanding requirements of modern coating, plastic, paper and ink technologies.

Storage and handling

Titanium dioxide BLR-996 must be stored in a dry, well‑ventilated area, protected from direct sunlight and moisture. Recommended storage temperature is between 5 °C and 30 °C with minimal fluctuations. When packaging integrity is maintained, the typical shelf life is up to 24 months. Handling requires protective gloves, safety goggles and a respirator to avoid dust generation and skin contact. The multi‑layer polyethylene container should remain intact and tightly sealed to prevent moisture ingress and contamination.
