Leather Processing Chemicals

Global Optimals supplies high‑grade leather processing chemicals designed for tanning and finishing operations in the leather industry. The core ingredient is a synthetic tanning agent that maintains a stable pH of 3.5‑5.5 and contains 30‑50 % active solids. These specifications provide excellent softness, improved colour fastness and long‑term durability of the finished leather goods. Synthetic tanning agents are typically based on poly‑amino or poly‑peptide polymers that form strong covalent and hydrogen bonds with collagen fibers, increasing hydrophobicity and resistance to microbial attack. The product is suitable for chromium tanning, where it stabilises chromium‑ion complexes and prevents precipitation, as well as for re‑tanning, where it reinforces the existing leather matrix and yields a more uniform distribution of tanning agents. In jarring it interacts with fatty emulsions, promoting deep penetration and a smooth surface, while in final coating stages it enhances adhesion of lacquer or pigment systems and improves abrasion resistance. The formulation is compatible with conventional chromium, aluminium and vegetable tanning agents, allowing seamless integration into multi‑component tanning schemes without precipitation or phase separation. Typical dosing ranges from 5 % to 15 % of wet hide weight, introduced after the initial wash and held for 30‑60 minutes at 20‑30 °C, which ensures even uptake of active components and shortens cycle time. The carefully balanced formulation accelerates the processing cycle and minimizes waste. Chemicals are packed in sealed drums with labeling that complies with TDS and SDS requirements, ensuring safe storage. Recommended storage conditions are +5 °C to +25 °C, protected from direct sunlight and moisture. Operators should wear protective gloves and goggles and ensure adequate ventilation. In practice, routine monitoring of solution pH and active‑solid concentration by standard titration methods is advisable to maintain process stability and avoid over‑tanning, which can lead to brittleness of the leather.

Storage and handling

The leather processing chemicals must be stored in a dry, well‑ventilated area at temperatures between 15 °C and 25 °C, protected from direct sunlight and heat sources. Packaging should remain tightly sealed and free from damage to prevent moisture ingress and contamination. Typical shelf life is 12‑24 months when stored under these conditions. During handling, wear appropriate protective gloves, goggles and respiratory protection, avoid skin contact and inhalation of vapors, and follow all standard safety procedures for chemical products.
