Micro Calcite (Calcium Carbonate)

Micro calcite (CaCO3) with CAS 471‑34-1 supplied by Global Optimals offers a purity of at least 98 % and a pH of 9‑10, ensuring stability in paint formulations. Calcium carbonate belongs to the family of inorganic mineral fillers that are prized for their high refractive index and ability to reflect ultraviolet light, which helps to retard colour fading in exterior coatings. Particle size is tightly controlled between 5 and 45 µm, providing high opacity and allowing reduction of binder usage; this size range also enables the filler to occupy microscopic pores in the film, improving barrier properties and resistance to moisture ingress. In typical paint systems micro calcite is blended with titanium dioxide, zinc oxide or acrylic resins, where it acts as a passive filler that lowers viscosity, speeds up drying and maintains colour integrity. In joint compounds and dry mixes it is often combined with clays and polymer dispersions, taking advantage of its alkaline pH (9‑10) to neutralise acidic components and enhance substrate adhesion. When added to floor coatings, micro calcite contributes to increased wear resistance, crack control and better load distribution across the surface. The high grade is favoured for premium paint formulations where impurity levels must be minimal, because trace amounts of iron or aluminum can cause unwanted tint shifts. For storage, keep the material in a dry, well‑ventilated area at +5 °C to +30 °C and avoid moisture contact to prevent agglomeration; anti‑agglomerant additives such as small quantities of polymer dispersions may be used to maintain a stable dispersion. Packaging in sealed 25 kg bags facilitates easy handling and rapid discharge in production lines. Global Optimals provides complete Technical Data Sheets (TDS), Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Certificates of Analysis (COA) for every batch, simplifying customer certification processes.

Storage and handling

Micro calcite must be stored in a dry, well‑ventilated area protected from direct sunlight and moisture. Recommended storage temperature is between +5 °C and +25 °C; higher temperatures may cause particle agglomeration. When the packaging remains intact, the typical shelf life is 12–24 months. During handling, wear protective gloves and a dust mask, avoid dust generation, and reseal the container tightly after each use to prevent moisture ingress.
