Hardener KH-816 is a modified amine hardener, specifically designed for castable epoxy floors. The formulation is based on a blend of di‑ethylene‑triamine (DETA) and poly‑ethylene‑amine structures, which provides rapid reaction with epoxy resins while maintaining low viscosity at cooler temperatures. The flexible amine chains grant a long pot life, allowing installers to work extended periods without premature gelation. Polymerization initiates at +5 °C, and at a standard ambient of 20 °C the cure completes in 45–60 minutes, reaching a Shore hardness of at least 80, which translates into excellent abrasion resistance and load‑bearing capacity. Chemically, the cured network exhibits strong resistance to solvents, oils, fuels and acidic media, making it suitable for factories, warehouses, automotive workshops and other harsh environments. When paired with high‑performance epoxy resins of class D‑4 (high tensile strength, low shrinkage), the hardener creates a three‑dimensional cross‑linked matrix that adheres well to concrete, steel and composite substrates. Recommended handling includes pre‑heating the resin to about 25 °C, then adding the hardener at a mass ratio of 100:35–40, and mixing thoroughly for 2–3 minutes to achieve a uniform blend. For anti‑static floor systems, small amounts of conductive additives such as sodium carbonate are often introduced; KH‑816 is compatible with these additives and does not compromise mechanical properties. In applications requiring elevated thermal stability (up to +120 °C), phosphonate‑based stabilizers can be incorporated without affecting cure kinetics. After pouring, the surface should be protected from dust and allowed a minimum of 24 hours before traffic to ensure full development of properties. The hardener is employed in industrial flooring, polymer coatings, anti‑static flooring and decorative flooring, including high‑traffic zones, chemically aggressive areas and projects where aesthetic finish is essential.

Storage and handling

The KH-816 hardener must be stored in a dry, well‑ventilated area protected from direct sunlight and moisture. Recommended storage temperature is between +5 °C and +25 °C; lower temperatures may increase viscosity, while temperatures above +30 °C can accelerate degradation. When the original sealed container is maintained, the typical shelf life is about 12 months. Handling requires protective gloves, safety goggles and respiratory protection, avoiding skin contact and inhalation of vapors. Ensure the metal drum or sturdy container remains tightly closed to prevent moisture ingress and contamination.
