Defoamer for mining offered by Global Optimals is a dedicated silicone‑based agent designed for hydrometallurgical applications. The active component is a high‑efficiency silicone formulated for dosage rates of 0.05–0.3 % of the solution volume. This silicone typically consists of polydimethylsiloxane chains that possess low surface energy, enabling rapid disruption of the liquid‑gas interface and preventing bubble coalescence. In flotation circuits where collectors such as xanthate or dithiophosphate are used together with conditioning agents like calcium carbonate or sodium gluconate, the defoamer reduces foam stability, allowing finer control of reagent consumption and improving the recovery of copper, gold or rare earth minerals. During leaching operations that involve strong acids (sulfuric, nitric) and oxidizers (hydrogen peroxide), the silicone defoamer remains inert, does not form precipitates, and continues to lower surface tension even at temperatures up to 120 °C, making it suitable for high‑temperature autoclave leaching. Compatibility extends to common reagents such as xanthan gum, sodium carbonate, iron sulfates, as well as typical flotation modifiers including carboxymethyl cellulose and pH regulators. The silicone grade provides a long‑lasting antifoam effect because its hydrophobic polymer network adsorbs onto bubble surfaces and dissipates them, eliminating the need for repeated dosing. It is supplied in sealed 25 kg bags together with complete technical documentation – TDS, SDS and a Certificate of Analysis – simplifying quality control on site. Storage guidelines recommend keeping the material in a dry, cool environment away from direct sunlight to prevent hydrolysis of the polymer.

Storage and handling

The de‑foamer should be stored in a dry, well‑ventilated area at ambient temperatures, typically between +5 °C and +30 °C, protected from direct sunlight and heat sources. When the packaging remains intact, the product retains its efficacy for approximately 12–24 months. During transport and unloading avoid impacts, drops, and moisture ingress. Use protective gloves and safety goggles in handling, and prevent skin or eye contact.
