The defoamer exhibits excellent resistance to crater formation, a critical attribute for thick‑film poured floors and high‑viscosity topcoats where surface defects are unacceptable. TEGO Airex 900 can be used together with common additives such as plasticizers, curing accelerators, and fillers (silica gel, microspheres) without causing phase separation. In practice, the defoamer is first diluted in a small amount of a compatible solvent (e.g., isopropanol or acetone) to achieve uniform dispersion, then added to the main coating stream under low shear mixing to avoid re‑generation of foam. Applications include 100 % solid coatings, poured concrete floors, epoxy repair systems, and high‑viscosity formulations where a smooth, defect‑free surface is required.
